About the role
Role Overview
Netflix is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead engineers building novel TV product UI features on Netflix’s flagship TV application. You’ll partner with one or more product managers and collaborate cross-functionally to continuously improve the Netflix member experience across hundreds of millions of TV devices.
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Management
- Lead and mentor engineers; foster innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Provide regular feedback, coaching, and support career development
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to deliver high-impact features
Technical Oversight
- Drive a culture of engineering excellence balancing product innovation with long-term technical health and maintainability
- Advocate for a risk-based approach to product quality
- Use GenAI to improve how teams work and deliver
Project Management
- Oversee timelines, resourcing, and deliverables; manage feature/scope/timeline tradeoffs
User Experience Focus
- Champion user experience improvements for TV members
- Validate decisions using A/B testing with real customers (instead of assumptions)
Innovation & Trends
- Stay current on trends and experiment with GenAI to transform workflows
Culture Leadership
- Model and advocate for the Netflix culture
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- Proven experience leading an engineering team building large-scale, consumer-facing products on TV or Web
Technical Excellence
- Strong client-side software development background
- Solid system thinking and understanding of end-to-end architectures
Leadership & Delivery
- Ability to lead through change, ambiguity, and rapid innovation cycles
- Strong organizational skills managing complex projects and delivering results
Collaboration
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and backend teams
User-Centric Mindset
- Passion for great UX and deep understanding of UI design principles
- Interest in member behavior via consumer insights and A/B test analysis
- Experience with remote/distributed teams is a plus
Compensation
- Annual salary range: $436,000 - $710,000 (varies by location)
- Compensation structure includes annual salary; no bonuses (stock options can be selected)
