About the role
Role Overview
Engineering Manager at Tremendous, a fully remote, high-documentation, low-meeting organization. You will lead one of multiple engineering teams (Banking, Catalog, or Prepaid Cards) and be matched to the team where your strengths have the most impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow an engineering team (6 teams total; hiring across Banking, Catalog, and Prepaid Cards)
- Develop engineers’ careers through 1:1s, thoughtful feedback, and coaching
- Own technical quality via code reviews, architecture decisions, and setting team standards
- Partner with PMs on how the team works and ship outcomes
- Lead on AI adoption while maintaining quality standards

- Async-first, low-meeting: documentation is the default; no back-to-back meeting culture

Requirements
- 8+ years software engineering experience
- At least 2 years leading a team as a manager or tech lead
- Strong technical judgment and ability to explain technical approaches
- Excellent communication skills, including writing technical briefs and explaining concepts cross-functionally
- Product intuition: help determine what to build and articulate product initiatives to engineers
- Ability to lead AI adoption without lowering quality standards
- Talent magnet with empathy and strong teammate/user focus
Nice to Haves
- Stack familiarity (not required): Ruby on Rails, TypeScript + React, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud
Compensation & Logistics
- Fully remote with core hours 12–4 EST across North and South America
- Base salary: $250,000–$300,000 plus equity and benefits
