Engineering Manager

Role Overview

Engineering Manager to lead and grow a cross-functional engineering team building platform capabilities for an Accommodations Management ecosystem. You’ll balance people leadership, hands-on technical delivery, and partnership with Product, Architecture, Security, and enterprise teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions.

Responsibilities

People Leadership (30%)

• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team
• Manage and mentor 5–8 engineers with a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
• Provide coaching, feedback, and career development support
• Drive team health, engagement, and performance management

Hands-on Technical Leadership & Delivery (50%)

• Contribute directly to system design and hands-on development
• Build and deliver platform capabilities end-to-end (design → deployment → production support)
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and observable
• Establish and enforce modern engineering practices: CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality
• Partner with Architects to align on technical direction and support adoption of emerging technologies (including potential AI/ML-enabled capabilities)

Cross-team Alignment & Stakeholder Management (20%)

• Translate business needs with Product Owners into technical plans and execution strategies
• Manage dependencies across teams and systems within the broader platform ecosystem
• Communicate progress, risks, and tradeoffs to technical and business stakeholders
• Contribute to roadmap planning and prioritization

Requirements

Required

• 6–8+ years software engineering experience
• 2+ years managing engineering teams
• Strong hands-on development with TypeScript/JavaScript and React (preferred)
• Experience building and operating cloud-native applications on AWS
• Ability to contribute to system design/architecture while actively coding
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and event-driven architectures
• Experience with modern engineering practices: CI/CD, automated testing, observability, security
• Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional delivery initiatives
• Proactive leadership style with strong communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred

• Experience with workflow-driven or compliance-sensitive systems (e.g., case management, decisioning)
• Exposure to AI/ML or data-driven product capabilities
• Experience with platform architectures and shared services ecosystems
• Familiarity with security and regulatory considerations for handling sensitive user data
