Engineering Manager

Role Overview

Engineering Manager for Core Services.

• Location: Fully remote (strong preference for EST)
• Duration: 9-month contract
• Team: Lead a distributed team of 5–9 software engineers focused on backend services, experimentation platforms, and feature delivery systems across desktop and mobile products.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Product and cross-functional partners to drive technical excellence and deliver scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a geographically distributed engineering team in a fast-paced environment.
• Balance short-term delivery with long-term technical strategy across backend services.
• Partner with Product, UX, QA, Operations, and Data Science to execute roadmap initiatives.
• Set team goals, manage project timelines, and communicate risks and priorities.
• Improve engineering processes and overall team effectiveness.
• Run regular 1:1s focused on technical guidance and career development.
• Support hiring and help grow the team.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience leading engineering teams in software development.
• Strong communication skills working across distributed teams.
• Technical background to guide engineering decisions.
• Experience with JavaScript and/or Python and/or Rust; Kotlin and Swift are a plus.
• Background in API development and scalable service architecture supporting large user bases.
• Experience mentoring and empowering engineers across multiple locations.
