Role Overview

Join Speak as an Engineering Manager to lead engineering teams working on consumer AI and an agentic engineering transformation. You’ll set clear output expectations, remove roadblocks, and partner closely with Product and Design to execute effectively in the AI era.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of engineers, setting strong standards for output and productivity.
Drive an agentic engineering transformation by identifying slowdowns and roadblocks and actively closing the gap.
Collaborate with Product/Design and partner functions to deliver in the AI era.
Maintain a high quality bar and provide direct performance feedback.

Requirements

Strong background in backend, systems, platform/infra, or performance.
Ability to drive velocity while maintaining quality; comfortable giving direct performance feedback.
8+ years of IC software engineering experience on fast-paced, high-performance teams.
4+ years of direct team management experience.
Technical mindset and enthusiasm for coding agents and agentic engineering practices.
Background in AI-native products and systems.
Track record improving developer productivity and/or tooling initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

Willingness to work in-person in San Francisco 3–4 days per week.
