Role Overview

Socket is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and grow its engineering team as it scales. You’ll help the team navigate ambiguity, build alignment, and deliver with speed and quality—leading through influence and facilitation rather than directing every solution.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on trust, ownership, and autonomy.
• Partner with engineering and go-to-market stakeholders to ensure the team solves the right problems.
• Stay engaged in technical decisions, helping the team reason through architecture, trade-offs, and complexity.
• Improve how the team works by identifying bottlenecks, refining processes, and automating toil.
• Bring clarity to ambiguous problems via prioritization, decision-making, and strong execution.
• Balance long-term technical investments with near-term business needs.
• Foster continuous improvement and a culture of accountability where engineers can lead decisions.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience leading engineering teams in fast-moving environments with unclear priorities.
• A tendency to step into ambiguous or unowned problems, including cross-team “seams.”
• Strong technical judgment and ability to participate deeply in architectural discussions.
• Comfort in a TypeScript/JavaScript ecosystem (strong fundamentals prioritized over specific tooling).
• Product sense and ability to incorporate customer and cross-source inputs.
• Communication skills that keep other teams informed and provide enough context for decisions.
• Experience managing remote teams, ideally globally distributed.
