Role Overview
Join Reddit as Engineering Manager (Safety) and lead a high-impact engineering team focused on protecting users and moderators from bad actors and malicious behavior. You will own the strategy and delivery of scalable safety tooling and automated defense systems, working closely with cross-functional partners to advance an AI-first safety platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Safety Experience engineering team and help develop, scale, and deliver safety tooling.
- Own strategy, development, and implementation of scalable safety systems and automated defenses.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, ML, and Operations to define and execute an AI-first platform strategy.
Requirements
- Strong engineering management background.
- Deep technical competence in full-stack engineering and/or system architecture.
- Experience working with or strong interest in AI/ML engineering practices, especially:
- serving models
- prompt engineering
- productionizing LLM or classical workflows at scale
- Track record managing and scaling larger engineering teams (10+ ICs) across full-stack and backend architectures.
- Solid experience with large-scale distributed systems.
- Customer-focused, self-directed, and action-oriented in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to set roadmaps, deliver results, and coach team members while building a healthy team culture.
