Join Runway, a fast-growing fintech startup, as an Engineering Manager. In this role, you will lead and scale our engineering team, establish engineering excellence, and ship products that help finance teams become strategic partners to their organizations. You will be responsible for hiring exceptional engineers, setting technical direction, unblocking your team, and fostering a culture of high performance. This is a hands-on role where you will make architectural decisions and multiply the impact of others. Key missions: Lead and scale the engineering team during a critical growth phase, focusing on building a high-performing team and establishing engineering excellence.. Profile: - Founder experience (YC or equivalent) with firsthand understanding of building from zero to one - Data engineering background - Experience building a culture of high standards where engineers are proud of what they ship - Strong full-stack engineering background that allows you to be the architectural tie-breaker when needed - Fintech, SaaS, or B2B software background - Experience with our stack: React/TypeScript + Go - Demonstrated success building engineering teams at high-growth startups (Series A through growth stage) - Passion for making complex financial concepts accessible to non-finance users - Track record of improving team output—increasing shipping cadence (especially through the use of AI), making incidents rare, and accelerating hiring velocity - Track record of guiding teams to strong technical outcomes
