Role Overview
Engineering Manager (Remote) responsible for hands-on leadership and delivery of business-critical applications across a diverse technology stack. You will lead teams supporting legacy platforms (ColdFusion/CFML and Windows C++ desktop/services) while driving pragmatic modernization focused on reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
Responsibilities
- People Leadership & Team Execution
- Lead, coach, and mentor engineers; foster ownership, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Drive predictable delivery via planning, execution, risk management, and cross-team coordination
- Actively remove blockers through debugging, design reviews, and rapid issue resolution
- Technical Leadership (Player/Coach)
- Provide architecture and design leadership for scalable, reliable, secure, maintainable solutions
- Conduct code and design reviews to reinforce engineering best practices
- Deep dive into complex production incidents across frontend, backend, and database layers
- Modern Web Development
- Lead development and ongoing support of Node.js services/APIs and React web applications
- Oversee SQL Server data design, complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning
- Ensure strong API integration patterns (RESTful and internal services), resiliency, and secure-by-design practices
- Cloud Leadership
- Lead engineering execution across Microsoft Azure and GCP, including deployment readiness and operational reliability
- Promote cloud-native/hosted engineering practices aligned with high availability and operational excellence
- Legacy Systems Leadership
- Provide technical leadership for ColdFusion (CFML) applications, including CFCs/custom tags and modular design
- Support and modernize Windows C++ desktop and service-based applications (debugging, performance, reliability)
- Delivery, Tooling, and Release Discipline
- Maintain structured engineering workflows with Git-based version control and disciplined release processes
- Partner with QA, Product, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders to ensure quality and release readiness
