Engineering Manager (Reference Data)

Role Overview

Engineering Manager for the Reference Data Team at Addepar. You will lead engineers to design, develop, and deploy scalable reference data solutions aligned with client requirements and product needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Reference Data Team to deliver complex engineering projects.
• Drive and own the technical direction in close alignment with product counterparts.
• Advocate for and implement engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering peers across regions to coordinate technical execution.
• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable systems, data pipelines, and backend services.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language: PySpark, Python, or Java.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL, plus experience with data pipelines.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and messaging queues.
• 2+ years experience leading engineering teams.
• 5+ years professional backend engineering experience as an individual contributor.
• Computer science degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of financial concepts (e.g., stocks, bonds) and/or investment management domain.
• Passion for FinTech and solving complex problems in investment management.
