About the role
Role overview
Join Orb as an Engineering Manager for the Entitlements & Spend Platform team. You will lead engineers building the runtime layer that connects Orb’s billing engine to customer workflows, driving correctness and low latency.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow an engineering team responsible for the runtime layer between billing and customer workflows.
- Set technical direction, shape the roadmap, and define interfaces other teams will build against.
- Ensure correctness and low latency in the system.
- Own team success and growth, providing consistent feedback, tailoring work to engineers’ development needs, and managing technical debt.
- Advocate for developer experience and partner closely with Product and Design.
Requirements
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, helping establish team foundations with clarity and execution rigor.
- Experience partnering with Product and Design and advocating for the customer perspective.
- 6+ years in software engineering.
- 2+ years as an Engineering Manager or equivalent Tech Lead Manager role.
- Deep technical understanding of distributed systems, data modeling, and system architecture.
- Ideally experience with real-time or low-latency systems.
- Track record of growing engineers and maintaining a high bar for technical excellence.
