About the role

Role overview

Engineering Manager to lead a distributed Platform team at Radar. You’ll help build and operate Radar’s infrastructure, developer platform, and data systems to make Radar a highly reliable, trusted location platform.

Responsibilities

Lead and support a distributed platform engineering team
Drive a roadmap to ensure Radar services are scalable and highly available worldwide
Focus primarily on the application layer, while connecting application and infrastructure development via automated tooling and workflows
Ensure platform systems support high-throughput, data-intensive workloads (1B+ API calls/day)
Collaborate with engineering leads and stakeholders to plan and deliver work (using Linear for planning)

Technical environment (high level)

API layer: Node.js + TypeScript
Geospatial database: Rust service (HorizonDB)
Data/infra: MongoDB, S3/Athena, Redis, Airflow
Cloud & orchestration: AWS (EKS), Kubernetes, Terraform, MongoDB Atlas
CI/CD & monitoring: CircleCI, CloudWatch, Grafana, PagerDuty (plus Pingdom)

Requirements / experience

Engineering management experience leading distributed teams (implied by “Engineering Manager to lead a distributed Platform team”)

Nice to haves (from context)

Experience with scalable infrastructure and developer platforms for high-throughput systems
Familiarity with application + infrastructure workflows, automation tooling, and on-call operations
Exposure to AI-assisted development workflows (Claude/Codex) with strong coding standards
