Engineering Manager (Mimirl)

Role Overview

Lead and develop Grafana Labs’ Databases Metrics engineering teams. You’ll manage engineers, operate as a project/program driver, and participate in technical discussions while shaping an effective remote engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage, hire, and develop an engineering team; provide regular feedback and support individual growth.
• Act as a project manager/driver, working with product owners to keep the product roadmap defined and up to date.
• Create a high-productivity engineering environment by removing obstacles and enabling cross-team collaboration.

Requirements

• Proven ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and improve team performance to deliver high-quality results.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems: scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, production readiness, and observability.
• Experience as a people manager, coaching senior engineers and supporting complex projects and ongoing operations.
• Ability to guide initiatives and collaborate effectively across teams (including small teams).
• Comfortable working fully remotely across time zones and cultures with clear, empathetic communication and a focus on psychological safety.
• Customer-focused mindset; decisions grounded in user needs and real-world impact.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted tooling and ideally integrating it into the team workflow.

• Practical experience applying AI/agentic development tools within an engineering team’s process.
