Engineering Manager - Member Experience Client Foundations

Role overview

Engineering Manager for Netflix’s Member Experience Client Foundations (MXCF) team. The team builds the server-driven UI (SDUI) architecture and tooling that powers the member experience across Netflix’s iOS, Android, TV, and Web streaming clients.

MXCF is a foundational team: it does not build end-user product experiences directly, but instead creates architecture and tooling that empowers product engineers to ship member experiences efficiently and reliably.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex partnerships across client and server teams, working as a one-team to deliver an end-to-end SDUI platform.
• Represent and advocate for client product and foundational UI engineering concerns.
• Help establish SDUI vision, architecture, and execution alignment between client and server stakeholders.
• Coach and support engineers to navigate the client-server balance and enable strong cross-functional collaboration.
• Shape a customer-empathetic team culture, grounding technical decisions in the value delivered to product experiences.
• Balance product engineering velocity with steady-state platform leverage.

Team focus (what you’ll enable)

• Support a spectrum of server-driven rendering control (from coarse to fine-grained, including optional none).
• Push client UI updates at both extreme scale (e.g., live events) and lower scale for user experience updates.
• Dynamically modify UI based on session interaction and user needs.
• Support a wide variety of content types and business verticals (shows, movies, games, ads, live, acquisition).

Requirements

• Prefer working in ambiguity, owning judgment calls, and aligning stakeholders through complex partnership work.
• Strong understanding of the team’s work and its relationship to the business.
• Leadership style emphasizes coaching and enabling engineers to deliver foundational solutions.
