Engineering Manager, Infrastructure

Role Overview

As an Engineering Manager for Infrastructure at Whatnot, you will lead the Reliability Engineering team. You’ll set technical direction and quality standards, build and execute reliability roadmaps, and partner with cross-functional teams to improve system resilience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, supporting technical growth, delivery, and long-term career development.
• Define technical direction and quality standards while empowering senior ICs to own design and architecture decisions.
• Develop and execute the strategic reliability engineering roadmap, including:
  • Incident response systems
  • SLO measurement platforms
  • Developer-facing reliability libraries.

Requirements

• Experience leading/mentoring engineering teams and driving technical execution.
• Ability to set reliability-oriented technical direction and quality standards.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience building reliability/observability tooling (e.g., incident response, SLOs) and enabling engineering teams through developer-facing libraries.
