Engineering Manager, Identity Frontend

Role Overview

Engineering Manager for the Identity Frontend Pod at Coinbase. You’ll lead a horizontal frontend platform team responsible for the identity layer used across Coinbase’s most visible, highest-traffic user experiences (login, sign-up, account settings, and security flows).

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a team of frontend engineers across web and mobile, partnering with a Tech Lead and Product Manager to set direction and drive execution.
• Own major initiatives, including:
  • Improving mobile sign-in performance
  • Rolling out transfer protections and new security features
  • Building frontend interfaces for multi-entity organizational account management
• Coordinate across backend identity teams and multiple product groups to unblock dependencies, resolve ambiguity, and maintain high delivery velocity.
• Ensure reliability and quality for production apps used by millions:
  • On-call health
  • Deployment rigor
  • Rapid incident resolution
• Improve testing infrastructure to enable continuous deployment and strong test coverage across critical user flows.
• Partner with Talent to recruit and retain exceptional frontend engineers; provide coaching and development.
• Represent the team across internal partners (Security, Design, Product, backend Identity) to build alignment and ensure integration support.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering management experience, ideally leading frontend or full-stack product teams.
• Strong technical fluency in modern frontend development, including:
  • React, React Native, TypeScript
  • Testing infrastructure
  • Web performance optimization
• Proven ability to ship high-quality, high-traffic user experiences at scale with strong focus on quality and UX.

• Experience working at the intersection of security, performance, and product quality (identity/security domain is emphasized).
