About the role
Role Overview
Calendly is hiring a hands-on Engineering Manager (Growth and Monetization) to partner with the Director of Engineering and lead teams building a best-in-class scheduling experience. You’ll combine people leadership with technical execution and a product-driven mindset to improve activation, onboarding, retention, and monetization.
Responsibilities
- Mentor, coach, and onboard engineering team members; support career development, satisfaction, and productivity
- Plan for the future of your team and help scale by hiring engineers for new and existing squads
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and design to simplify and enhance the user experience
- Solve problems impacting millions of users, from local businesses to large enterprise customers
- Identify future technical needs and create plans to meet them
- Drive initiatives that reimagine how the world meets
- Provide feedback and guidance to help teams grow and scale
- Availability for on-call rotation to respond to business-critical alerts outside regular hours
Requirements
- 5+ years experience managing a team of software engineers
- 10+ years overall development experience; Ruby on Rails preferred (Python, Go, PHP accepted)
- Experience leading product growth engineering teams (e.g., Activation, Retention, Onboarding, Monetization)
- Deep proficiency in web application development and SaaS
- Experience planning and leading development on large projects
- Experience mentoring teams toward big goals with consistent execution
- Experience with service-oriented architecture; bonus for migrating a monolith to services
- Excellent ability to communicate deep technical concepts
- Experience leading Agile/Scrum ceremonies
- Experience working in a balanced engineering + product environment
- Backend experience with MVC frameworks
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States (no immigration sponsorship)
Compensation
- Annual base salary range (Tiered):
- $232,626 – $281,888 USD
- $213,241 – $258,398 USD
- $193,855 – $234,907 USD
