Engineering Manager

Role overview

As an Engineering Manager in the Observability department at Grafana Labs, you will lead a remote team of Alloy engineers. You’ll help the team collaborate with the OpenTelemetry collector community and ensure a high-quality user experience for Grafana Cloud products.

Key missions

• Manage and develop Alloy engineers: provide regular feedback and run career conversations to support growth.
• Help the Alloy team increase collaboration with the OpenTelemetry collector community.
• Remove roadblocks to keep delivery moving.
• Partner closely with go-to-market to ensure customers and prospects succeed through their Alloy journey.

Requirements

• Strong people leadership and relationship management skills.

• Solid understanding of distributed systems (scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and observability).
• Ability to stay current on technical trends to understand team challenges.
• Comfortable collaborating across time zones and cultures with clear, empathetic communication.
• Enough domain knowledge in observability and OpenTelemetry to manage and collaborate effectively with the OpenTelemetry collector community.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and elevate team performance.
