About the role

Join GitLab as an Engineering Manager, Infrastructure Platforms. In this role, you will lead a high-performing team focused on building and supporting secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure platforms. You will collaborate with Product Managers and Engineering leaders to translate business goals and customer needs into resilient infrastructure solutions. Your responsibilities will include hiring and developing team members, guiding architecture and design discussions, and participating in the Incident Management on-call rotation. Key missions: Hiring, coaching, and developing team members to create a high-performing Infrastructure Platforms team.. Partnering closely with Product Managers and Engineering leaders to translate business goals into resilient infrastructure platforms.. Guiding architecture and design discussions, helping the team navigate complex tradeoffs, and ensuring a strong focus on security, performance, and availability. Profile: - Strong expertise in running and scaling large, consumer-grade platforms, with a focus on reliability, security, performance, and scalability - Experience leading infrastructure, platform, or development teams at scale, with a track record of building high-performing, values-aligned teams - Ability to hire, develop, and coach team members, creating an environment where people can thrive and deliver meaningful results - Excellent technical background, including strong infrastructure and platforms experience and familiarity with Kubernetes, Ruby/Go, and continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices - Effective cross-functional collaboration skills, including the ability to partner with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and other stakeholders to align on goals and outcomes - Ability to deep dive into complex technical issues and translate them into clear, actionable language for both technical and non-technical audiences - Passion for open source and developer tools, with a commitment to GitLab's values, inclusive culture, and high-performance expectations - Experience managing remote, globally distributed teams and working effectively in an all-remote, asynchronous environment - Please note that we welcome interest from candidates with varying levels of experience; many successful candidates do not meet every single requirement - If you're excited about this role, please apply and allow our recruiters to assess your application
