Engineering Manager (Forecasting & Scheduling)

Role

Engineering Manager for the Forecasting & Scheduling team at Assembled. You’ll set technical direction and help make product decisions, working across PM, design, ML engineering, GTM, and directly with customers.

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction: establish architecture and make product/engineering calls for the team.
• Shape product outcomes: ensure the product genuinely changes how support organizations manage their work.
• Customer collaboration: work directly with customers to validate needs and guide product improvements.
• Lead both technical and people dimensions: solve difficult technical problems and manage a sizeable team.
• Raise delivery bar: drive accountability for fast, effective delivery of customer value.
• Champion engineering investment: advocate for paying down technical debt, modernizing infrastructure, and raising engineering standards (while knowing when strategic debt is worth it).

Requirements

• Strong team-building skills: recruit high-quality engineers and align the team around a compelling vision.
• AI product perspective: clear viewpoints on where AI accelerates work (e.g., code generation, prototyping, research synthesis) and where it increases cleanup.
• Product instincts: know what to build; can step into a PM role when needed and push back on roadmaps when misaligned.
• High standards: hold yourself and the team accountable for customer impact and speed.

Nice to Have

• Background in operations research or related quantitative fields.
• Experience with optimization, queueing theory, simulation, applied math, or ML with strong optimization bent.
• T-shaped leadership: broad understanding of team/company goals with ability to dive deep when required.
