Engineering Manager

Role overview

Join Float as an Engineering Manager for Product Platform & APIs. You’ll lead teams that build foundational platform systems and external APIs/integrations powering Float’s product ecosystem. This is a player-coach role with an expected ~60% hands-on technical contribution.

Missions & responsibilities

• Own the roadmap and execution for Product Platform and API capabilities, delivering systems that help product teams ship faster with fewer dependencies.
• Lead engineering for accounting integrations, designing reliable, scalable integration patterns across third-party API providers.
• Contribute directly to backend/platform/integration code, and review designs and PRs with a focus on:
  • correctness
  • scalability
  • maintainability
• Lead and develop engineers across platform and integration domains, fostering adaptability, accountability, and technical excellence.

Requirements

• Experience building APIs, platforms, or integration-heavy systems.
• Ability to balance execution with long-term platform thinking.
• Strong backend and systems engineering background.
• Comfortable working across varied third-party APIs and data models.
• Proven ability to contribute code while leading teams.
• Strong communication skills, especially around indirect impact.
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, enablement-focused environments.
• Adaptable and able to learn new domains quickly.

Nice to have

• Experience with developer platforms, SDKs, or ecosystem products.
• Accounting, payments, or financial integrations experience (plus, not required).
