Role overview

Join Float as an Engineering Manager for Platform. You’ll lead the Infrastructure and Developer Experience (DevEx) teams, unifying platform engineering efforts to ensure reliability, scalability, and operational excellence as Float expands into financial services.

Key missions

• Lead and evolve a unified Platform organization spanning infrastructure, SRE practices, and developer experience.
• Own platform reliability, including uptime and overall operational health as the platform scales.
• Contribute hands-on to infrastructure, automation, and platform code while coaching and developing platform engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide people leadership, coaching, and technical guidance.
• Drive reliability-focused engineering practices and production operational standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to improve developer workflows and productivity.

Requirements

• Experience leading infrastructure/platform/SRE/DevEx teams.
• Comfortable hands-on leadership while managing others.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proven experience designing and operating highly reliable production systems.
• Strong technical depth across cloud infrastructure (AWS), networking, and distributed systems.
• Empathy for developer workflows; ability to improve developer productivity.
• Ability to contribute code and help set technical direction.
• Interest in platform work as leverage, with care for reliability, clarity, and operational excellence.

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience (e.g., Terraform or similar).
• Experience in regulated environments and reliability-sensitive/high-scale systems.
