Engineering Manager - Fintech, Lodging

Role overview

Engineering Manager for Hotels CFAR (Fintech, Lodging) at HTS/Hopper. You will lead a small, high-leverage engineering team (~3 engineers max) and act as both an engineering leader and a credible, partner-facing technical authority who can scope integrations and ship durable systems.

What you’ll do (day-to-day)

• Lead a product engineering team building scalable, reliable systems (and ship yourself, creating prototypes, integration scaffolding, and technical/partner-facing artifacts with AI).
• Own platform architecture and delivery for Hotels CFAR, including:
  • Offer/pricing/order/exercise APIs
  • Merchandising and UI SDK layer
  • Synthetic rate bundling
  • Exercise/payout infrastructure
• Run partner integrations end-to-end:
  • Scope technical solutions
  • Lead solutioning calls and design integration patterns
  • Partner with Sales and Solutions to move partners from Discovery → Solutioning → Development → Live
• Build scaling infrastructure:
  • Partner management portal
  • Configuration tooling
  • Self-serve onboarding (decoupling partner growth from engineering headcount)
• Be the senior technical voice for partners:
  • Translate between partner engineering teams, HTS APIs, and product strategy
  • Own SLAs, performance, and partner-specific requirements
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Risk/Pricing, Ops, and GTM to align output to outcomes (attach rate, contribution profit, partner launch velocity, loss ratio).
• Foster technical excellence through architecture reviews, mentorship, and raising the bar for senior ICs and tech leads.

Requirements

• Experience leading engineering teams building B2B / B2B2C platforms with named external partners.
• Strong backend foundation: APIs, orchestration, distributed systems.
• Ability to lead as a partner/customer-facing technical leader: solutioning calls, integration scoping, SLAs, deployment unblock.
• Comfort with fintech/transactional domains (money movement, refunds, pricing engines, contracts, audit trails).

Nice-to-haves

• Travel distribution background (booking engines, agent portals, bedbanks, OTAs, PSS/inventory platforms, or hotel CRS/chain systems such as Sabre and Amadeus).
• Frontend exposure for SDK/embedded UI work: React and JS/TypeScript.
• Experience with Scala or Java, REST APIs, OAuth2.0, and cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS).
