Role Overview

Engineering Manager for Communications (Remote)

Lead a team of ~15 engineers (backend + frontend)
Build and scale the integration layer connecting modern APIs to legacy banking platforms
Take a hands-on approach: architecture, code reviews, production code, and coaching

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead by example: stay hands-on with coding, architecture, and code reviews
Own the integration layer: architect and scale connections across modern APIs and legacy protocols
Champion customer experience: partner with Product, Implementation, and customer-facing teams to solve real-world needs
Collaborate across teams: work with other engineering leaders to ship seamless features end-to-end
Build for the long run: ensure observability, reliability, and performance as demand grows
Make AI your ally: use AI tools to augment SDLC, improve code quality, automate testing, and ship faster
Evolve continuously: modernize brittle codebases with maintainable solutions
Grow and inspire the team: hire, mentor, and develop engineers; raise engineering standards

What We’re Looking For

10+ years software development experience, including 2+ years in hands-on leadership
Ability to thrive in ambiguity and turn unclear requirements into actionable plans
Expertise in scalable, resilient architectures and building:
- Microservices
- Asynchronous systems
- Observability frameworks
- CI/CD pipelines
Strong proficiency in Go (Golang) plus experience with React and JavaScript
Track record delivering in complex technical environments (fintech or enterprise SaaS a plus)
Customer-first mindset and ability to balance impact with quality
Decisive, action-oriented style in fast-paced environments
Strong communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Passion for building teams and fostering ownership, experimentation, and continuous learning
