Engineering Manager

Role overview

Join Defense Unicorns as an Engineering Manager. You will lead a team of engineers to build and maintain UDS-compatible applications, ensuring reliable, scalable product delivery and continuous improvement in code quality, architecture, and engineering processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team to develop and maintain UDS-compatible applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and manage engineering roadmaps aligned with Product objectives.
• Drive innovation and efficiency across engineering delivery.
• Mentor and guide engineers’ professional and technical growth; foster a continuous improvement culture.
• Facilitate communication between clients/customers and engineers.
• Stay current on new trends and technologies.

Requirements

• 6+ years of industry experience, preferably building/maintaining/managing platforms and infrastructure.
• Strong technical background in software engineering, with experience architecting and delivering scalable solutions on cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Deploy cloud-native software to Kubernetes.
• 2+ years managing engineering teams, including experience working with remote, distributed teams.
• Proficiency in DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
• Familiarity with Cloud-Native technologies, especially Kubernetes.
• Detail-oriented, highly organized, able to prioritize effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience with Zarf and the UDS ecosystem.
• Contributions to open-source or published projects.
• Understanding of airgapped systems, edge devices, and semi-disconnected software delivery.
• Experience in mobile development, particularly Android.
