Role overview

Engineering Manager (Data) at Imagen Technologies (Full remote). You will build and lead the AI Data Platform team supporting the development of FDA-cleared AI products, with direct impact on patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead an engineering team focused on data; establish team processes, engineering culture, and development practices.
• Own technical and operational responsibility for the AI data platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
• Define and execute the technical roadmap; prioritize work based on:
  • scalability improvements
  • new capabilities
  • reduction of technical debt.
• Be hands-on as needed, progressively shifting toward full-time people management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into engineering priorities.

Requirements

• 8+ years in software/data engineering, including 2+ years in an engineering management role.
• Strong data engineering foundation.
• Comfortable reviewing system designs, making architectural decisions, and contributing code when needed.
• Hands-on experience with Python and SQL.
• Experience with cloud-native data platforms and modern data infrastructure, including:
  • data lakes and data warehouses
  • ETL/ELT pipelines
  • workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with MLOps / infrastructure supporting machine learning workflows.
• Multi-cloud experience and cloud cost optimization.
• Experience in healthcare/healthtech or other regulated industries (HIPAA, FDA, GDPR).
• BS in Computer Science (or equivalent real-world experience).
