Engineering Manager, Consumer (Remote, US)

Role: Engineering Manager, Consumer

Lead a team of 4–6 software engineers to build, launch, and maintain scalable, reliable software powering the consumer product experience.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor software engineers: technical guidance, career development, performance feedback, hiring planning, and participation in reviews/performance actions
• Oversee product engineering: guide development of user-facing experiences plus robust backend services and APIs
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Program Management to align execution with product roadmaps
• Manage delivery across the stack, including: Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, AWS/GCP services (e.g., CDK, ECS/EKS, Redshift, S3, Pub/Sub), TypeScript, React, Prefect, Git, and Jira
• Run and support Agile practices (stand-ups, retros, 1:1s) and make routine decisions while handling increasingly ambiguous choices
• Own resource allocation, prioritization, hiring, and onboarding to grow and maintain the team
• Stay current on industry and cloud trends, championing continuous improvement and innovation

Requirements

• 8+ years software engineering experience; 2–3+ years in a leadership/management role overseeing technical teams (BS preferred; MS counts as 1 additional year)
• Degree in CS or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated self-starter who identifies strategic opportunities and drives initiatives that improve operational excellence
• Hands-on experience building/scaling systems in AWS/GCP, with containers (ECS/EKS), serverless, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CDK)
• Ability to balance leadership and technical execution (still engaged in design/implementation)
• Strong core engineering skills in Python and SQL (plus familiarity with the broader stack listed)
