Engineering Manager (Cloud Platform)

Role Overview

As Engineering Manager (Cloud Platform) at Flosum, you will lead the architecture, performance, and scalability of a Node.js-based platform running primarily on AWS. You’ll manage a team of 10–15 developers, balancing roadmap delivery with engineering health while partnering with product and engineering leadership.

Key Missions & Responsibilities

• Own cloud platform architecture: ensure architectural decisions preserve portability across cloud providers.
• Manage and grow the team:
  • Set team goals and run 1:1s
  • Grow careers, hire effectively, and remove blockers
  • Balance delivery speed with engineering health
• Drive velocity and execution quality:
  • Improve development velocity
  • Mentor senior engineers
  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to ship reliable, high-quality systems quickly

Requirements

• Proven experience growing engineers, hiring well, and running a team that ships consistently.
• Deep expertise architecting distributed systems on AWS, including:
  • Compute, networking, data, IAM, observability
• 8+ years software engineering experience
• 3+ years leading engineering teams
• Track record improving performance, scalability, and deployment velocity in production
• Strong Node.js background and experience building maintainable services at scale
• Experience designing platform-agnostic systems that can run on major hyperscalers

Nice-to-Haves

• Multi-cloud / cloud-portable deployments, e.g. Kubernetes, Terraform, containerization
• Experience scaling SaaS platforms or developer-facing products
• AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer)
