Engineering Manager, Client Products & Emerging Tech

Role Overview

Lead the Client Products & Emerging Tech engineering team, part of Airbnb’s Product Foundation organization. You’ll set a distinctive vision for client-side product frameworks and emerging technologies that improve core experiences for both guests and hosts across Android, iOS, and Web.

What You’ll Do

• Establish team vision and drive product direction that fits Airbnb’s needs and avoids generic industry patterns
• Partner cross-functionally with Design and Product from ideation to large-scale implementation
• Identify and document requirements with stakeholders
• Strengthen partnerships across Engineering, Design, and Product to deliver ambitious concepts
• Lead investments in new technical capabilities to unlock product innovation
• Work with engineers to plan and sequence delivery, make trade-offs, and communicate plans clearly
• Coordinate with peer engineering teams to integrate features that affect multiple product areas
• Recruit, mentor, and develop exceptional engineering talent, including tailored career development
• Build an inclusive, high-performing culture focused on collaboration, technical excellence, and calculated risk-taking

Your Expertise

• 9+ years industry experience, including 5+ years people management experience managing technical leads
• Strong product and design instinct, with proven ability to build consumer experiences that delight
• Excellent communication and collaboration; ability to influence across diverse stakeholders
• Experience leading and delivering large initiatives with meaningful business impact
• Commitment to operational excellence: quality, reliability, and availability
• Track record of developing teams to perform at their fullest potential
• Hands-on experience with iOS, Android, and/or Frontend Web UI development
• Good judgment balancing short-term business needs with long-term technical quality
• Ability to foster inclusive and engaging team environments
