About the role

Role overview

Join ClickHouse as an Engineering Manager for the Language Clients team. This is a high-ownership leadership role where you’ll set technical direction, grow a high-bar engineering team, and expand ClickHouse’s presence in the broader open-source developer ecosystem.

Key missions

Recruit, coach, and develop a strong, high-output team; set crisp expectations and foster a culture of ownership, speed, and continuous improvement.
Define product and execution strategy for language clients to stay ahead of rapid (10x) growth.
Make opinionated architectural decisions while maintaining a customer-focused, fast-shipping culture.
Expand beyond core client libraries into a broader ecosystem:
- Integrations, SDKs, partner tooling, and community-built extensions.
Set direction and drive execution in ambiguous environments with minimal process.

Requirements

Leadership & Execution
- 3+ years managing software engineers (hiring, developing, retaining).
- Experience growing engineers into senior contributors / future leads.
- Ability to drive delivery in ambiguity by setting priorities and delivering impact.
Technical excellence
- 10+ years building developer-facing tools, open-source software, or data-intensive systems.
- Hands-on: review code, guide technical design via feedback.
- Strong interest in staying at the technological edge (developer tooling, data, OSS).
OSS & product mindset
- Experience collaborating with open source communities and earning trust.
- Track record of external representation (talks, blog posts, community engagement, partner development).
- Strong product ownership and customer-centric approach: convert developer feedback into roadmap and ship fast with tight feedback loops.
