Engineering Manager

Role overview

Join ClickHouse as an Engineering Manager to lead the Language Clients team. You’ll set product and execution strategy, expand ClickHouse’s language-client footprint across the open-source ecosystem, and partner closely with other teams.

Key missions

• Recruit, coach, and develop a high-bar team; set crisp expectations and drive a culture of ownership, speed, and continuous improvement.
• Shape product and execution strategy for language clients to stay ahead of 10x growth.
• Make opinionated architectural decisions while maintaining a customer-focused, fast-shipping culture.
• Expand into a broader ecosystem: integrations, SDKs, partner tooling, and community-built extensions.
• Establish effective collaboration with OSS communities and help sustain trust in public technical spaces.

Profile / Requirements

• Leadership & Execution:
  • 3+ years managing software engineers (hiring, developing, retaining strong talent)
  • Ability to grow engineers into senior contributors and future leads
  • Comfortable driving execution in ambiguity: set priorities, deliver impact without heavy process
  • Startup experience preferred
• Technical excellence:
  • 10+ years building developer-facing tools, open source software, or data-intensive systems
  • Hands-on involvement: engage with technical designs, review code, and guide via technical feedback
  • Deep interest in staying on the technological edge and following trends in developer tooling, data, and OSS
• OSS & product mindset:
  • Experience collaborating with open source communities and earning trust
  • Track record of external representation (e.g., talks, blog posts, community engagement, partner development)
  • Strong product ownership and customer-centric approach: turn developer feedback into roadmap and ship via tight feedback loops
