About the role

Role Overview

Join ClickHouse as an Engineering Manager in a high-ownership role. You will lead the Language Clients team, set the product and execution strategy, and expand the company’s reach across the broader open-source ecosystem.

Key Missions

Recruit, coach, and develop a high-bar team; build a culture of ownership, speed, and continuous improvement.
Shape product and execution strategy for language clients to stay ahead of 10x growth.
Make opinionated architectural decisions while maintaining a customer-focused, fast-shipping culture.
Expand from core client libraries into a wider ecosystem, including:
- Integrations, SDKs, partner tooling
- Community-built extensions
Establish and sustain collaboration with open-source (OSS) communities.

Profile / Requirements

Leadership & Execution
- 3+ years managing software engineers (hiring, developing, retaining strong talent).
- Proven ability to grow engineers into senior contributors and future leads.
- Can drive execution in ambiguous environments: set crisp priorities and deliver impact with minimal over-process.
- Startup experience preferred.
OSS & Product Mindset
- Experience collaborating with open-source communities and earning trust in public technical spaces.
- Track record of external representation (e.g., talks, blog posts, community engagement, partner development).
- Strong product ownership: set direction, not just execute it.
- Customer-centric approach: turn developer feedback into the roadmap and ship fast with tight feedback loops.
Technical Excellence
- 10+ years building developer-facing tools, open-source software, or data-intensive systems.
- Hands-on: engage in technical design, review code, and guide through technical feedback.
- Strong interest in staying on the technological edge and tracking OSS/dev tooling trends.
