About the role

Role overview

Calendly is hiring a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead and grow engineering teams building and operating highly available scheduling products. You’ll work closely with Product, Design, Data, Security, and go-to-market stakeholders to define and deliver the roadmap for new scheduling experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and lead software engineers through onboarding, coaching, and performance/career conversations
  • Partner with product/design/data/security/GTM stakeholders to plan and deliver the roadmap for scheduling products
  • Drive technical execution across distributed, service-oriented architectures and API design
  • Operate effectively in ambiguous, cross-functional environments, aligning priorities and outcomes
  • Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies and improve how the team executes, ships, and operates services
  • Plan and lead development efforts on large projects
  • Identify future technical needs and create plans to meet them
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to business-critical alerts
  • Hire engineers for new and existing squads, with oversight for team members

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience managing software engineers
  • 5+ years overall development experience, ideally with TypeScript, Node.js, and React
  • Deep proficiency with distributed/data-oriented application development and SaaS
  • Experience planning and leading large projects
  • Excellent communication skills explaining deep technical concepts clearly
  • Experience leading Agile/Scrum ceremonies
  • Authorization to work in the United States (no immigration sponsorship)

Salary

Annual base salary ranges (Tier 1–3) are provided; exact tier depends on factors considered by Calendly.
