About the role
Role Overview
Join AuditBoard as an Engineering Manager to lead the AI Applications team within Optro. You will drive strategic AI initiatives, mentor engineers, and work closely with Product to deliver AI-first features and improve how teams leverage AI infrastructure.
Key Missions
- Lead and grow the team: Mentor, inspire, and foster a culture of craftsmanship, curiosity, and continuous learning.
- Partner with Product: Act as an embedded engineering partner to Product, championing AI-first approaches for feature delivery.
- Own technical execution: Lead the technical direction for AI initiatives, including:
- Agent workflow development
- MCP tooling
- An internal AI chat assistant
- Enable production readiness: Accelerate squads’ ability to adopt AI infrastructure and build reliable AI solutions.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and architectural leadership for applied AI systems.
- Guide production delivery across AI workflows and integrations.
- Collaborate with product management on roadmap execution and quality.
- Support engineers through mentoring and engineering culture/craft improvements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in engineering management leading teams shipping production software or AI systems.
- AWS (preferred) or Azure experience and modern deployment practices.
- Strong Python skills; TypeScript/Node.js is a plus.
- Proven experience partnering with Product to improve delivery velocity and quality.
- Ability to mentor technically (architecture, code quality, engineering culture).
- Experience with vector databases, semantic search, or RAG-adjacent application integration.
- Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and building/consuming tool-based AI integrations.
- Understanding of modern agent frameworks and building reliable production AI workflows (e.g., LangGraph/LangChain or comparable tooling).
- Experience deploying AI agents in production with observability, tracing, failure handling, and performance.
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks for collaboration (e.g., Ember preferred; Vue/React/Angular also valued).
- Experience building or maintaining AI-assisted chat/conversational interfaces.
- Knowledge of ethical and responsible AI practices.
- Experience working in a regulated environment, including Audit/Risk/Compliance (ARC).
- Experience managing remote/distributed teams.
- Comfort working in Agile environments with modern project management tooling.
- Ability to operate in a fast-evolving AI tooling landscape.
- Strong B2B SaaS product experience.
Nice-to-haves (implied)
- TypeScript/Node.js.
- Ember front-end experience.
- Additional familiarity with AI infrastructure and tool-based integrations.
