About the role

Role overview

Join Vanta as an Engineering Manager (Artificial Intelligence) in a remote-first environment. You will lead a team of engineers, set technical strategy, and partner with product, design, and AI/platform teams to ship customer-facing AI features.

Key missions

Build and develop a high-performing engineering team, hiring strategically to close skill gaps.
Define direction and guide technical strategy for Vanta’s AI products, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
Collaborate cross-functionally (Product, Design, AI Platform) to deliver client-focused AI functionality.

Responsibilities

Lead engineers and manage team execution.
Drive the technical roadmap for AI products in a fast-changing environment.
Apply responsible AI judgment to improve efficiency and impact.

Requirements

Collaboration and influencing skills across engineering, product, and design.
Experience managing technical teams of 4–8+ engineers (at least 2+ years managing).
Deep knowledge of LLM-backed product development, including:
- Prompting
- RAG
- Agent frameworks
- Quality/optimization (noted as quality hill-climbing)
Proven ability as a strong individual contributor with hands-on applied AI experience before moving into management.
Comfort with ambiguity and ability to iterate roadmaps as priorities evolve.

Nice to have

Startup experience; founder background or YC experience is a plus.
Familiarity with Vanta’s stack (TypeScript, React, Node.js) or ability to ramp quickly.
Openness to using AI to amplify skills and strengthen work.
