About the role

Role overview

Engineering Manager for Canonical’s App Stores platform (Snap Store / Charmhub.io marketplaces, unified software distribution engine). You’ll lead a remote engineering team building Python and Go micro-services that power large-scale software distribution and release workflows.

Responsibilities

Lead a remote team of engineers in your time zone
Coach, mentor, and develop team members through hands-on career growth
Set and manage expectations with engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders
Provide technical leadership through code reviews and architecture guidance
Collaborate with product managers and architects to produce an engineering roadmap
Drive and maintain healthy engineering practices, including documentation, quality, and performance optimization
Be a positive influence on team culture; facilitate delivery and strategy/execution reflection

Requirements

Strong technical fluency in the languages, architecture, and components used by the team
Ability to run an effective team: keep engineers focused, productive, and unblocked
Experience contributing via code reviews and architectural leadership

Nice-to-haves / alignment

Passion for clean APIs and shipping software regularly against an agile plan
Belief that tests enable higher velocity and reliability
Interest in working alongside security expertise to deliver capabilities safely at scale
