Engineering Manager

Role Overview

Join Airbnb as an Engineering Manager for the Checkout team within Booking & Pricing. You will lead a full-stack team and set the technical and organizational direction to improve Airbnb’s booking experience and impact top-line results.

Key Missions & Responsibilities

• Lead the Checkout team, responsible for Airbnb Checkout online APIs and the user experience across all platforms to ensure a seamless booking flow.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Design, and Data Science to define deliverables that meet guest needs while improving technical quality.
• Manage and grow a full-stack team (10–14 engineers) by:
  • Setting a high technical bar
  • Investing in engineers’ growth (promotion, scope expansion, career pivots)
  • Nurturing a culture of technical quality.

Profile / Requirements

• Passion for building intuitive, delightful products that solve real user problems while maintaining high technical quality.
• Proven ability to grow engineers through mentorship, promotions, and meaningful scope expansions.
• Experience leading teams operating large-scale, mission-critical production systems.
• 5+ years engineering management experience and 8+ years software development experience in fast-paced tech environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams within engineering and with cross-functional partners.
• Expertise in booking-related systems, including transactional systems, payment flows, or high-availability APIs.
• Experience evolving large systems using incremental migration strategies while maintaining product velocity.
