Engineering Lead, Web Platform

Role Overview

ClickHouse is hiring an Engineering Lead, Web Platform to lead the technical evolution of its marketing website and the systems behind its digital presence. This is a hands-on player/coach role: you will set technical direction while actively contributing to production code.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the technical strategy for the ClickHouse web platform.
• Architect, build, and maintain the marketing website and supporting systems using Next.js, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Strapi.
• Deliver meaningful production code across the platform (everyone codes).
• Improve performance, scalability, reliability, accessibility, and maintainability.
• Own website technical health including Core Web Vitals, deployment pipelines, observability, and engineering best practices.
• Partner with Demand Generation to enhance self-service, evolve experimentation, and improve A/B testing infrastructure.
• Partner with Content to strengthen technical SEO and search performance.
• Partner with Design to deliver high-quality user experiences while maintaining engineering standards and consistency.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to align on priorities, define solutions, and build the web platform roadmap.
• Set high engineering standards through architecture, code reviews, documentation, and technical leadership.
• Evaluate modern technologies and AI-assisted development workflows to shape future web engineering.
• Build and grow a lean, high-performing web engineering team and support hiring as needed.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building and operating modern web platforms with Next.js, React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Solid software architecture and systems design experience.
• Experience with headless CMS platforms, ideally Strapi.
• Deep understanding of web performance, accessibility, analytics integrations, and modern frontend practices.
• Experience running reliable production systems using modern deployment, monitoring, and observability tooling.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across design, marketing, and engineering.
• Pragmatic technical leadership with enjoyment of mentoring while staying close to the code.

Nice to Have

• Experience building high-traffic SaaS websites.
• Familiarity with experimentation platforms and A/B testing frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of technical SEO.
• Experience building or contributing to design systems.
• Familiarity with modern analytics (statement truncated in source).
