Engineering Director

Role Overview

As Engineering Director, you will report to the Senior Director Engineering and lead technical solutions across the Engineering organization. You will provide both strategic and people leadership for multi-discipline capital programs—from concept through initial production—ensuring alignment to business platform strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical solutions and guide project management teams for capital programs, covering:
  • safety, scope, cost, spending forecasts, and schedule
• Provide direct leadership to Project Leaders, Engineering Project Managers, and Engineers, with dual/dotted-line leadership of Plant Engineering Managers and contract resources
• Direct and coordinate project management, engineering, construction management, and cost control resources
• Foster an inclusive environment that attracts, develops, and retains engineering and project management talent
• Drive project outcomes that improve safety, reliability, product quality, productivity, and capacity across manufacturing and co-manufacturing networks
• Partner with Plant Managers and Operations leaders to set direction, priorities, and execution alignment
• Collaborate with equipment/material suppliers, engineering consultants, and installation contractors
• Support enterprise-wide coordination through governance and effective communication

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical preferred)
• 10+ years practical experience in food manufacturing, packaging technologies, and project management
• Leadership experience in Food & Beverage / CPG / regulated manufacturing environments (FDA or USDA)
• Ability to communicate technical requirements to non-technical audiences
• Experience leading technical teams and managing capital programs in a multi-site manufacturing organization
• Experience developing/managing capital budgets/projects of at least $10M

Location & Travel

• Based in Omaha, NE or Chicago, IL, select field locations, or remote East of Denver, CO (within 50 miles of a major airport)
• Travel averages ~50%, variable by project timing

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: $135,000–$200,000 annual base salary
