About the role

Role overview

Join Collibra’s Security Operations & Engineering team. As a Security Engineer, you will design, build, and operate systems that safeguard Collibra’s data, infrastructure, and customers. The role emphasizes engineering excellence, automation, and proactive risk reduction through secure architecture and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement secure cloud architectures
    • Embed zero-trust principles and identity-based access controls
  • Threat and vulnerability management
    • Manage threat detection, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to proactively identify and remediate risks
  • Incident response
    • Lead incident response and use threat intelligence to detect, contain, and prevent evolving threats
  • Security compliance and audit readiness
    • Ensure compliance with global security standards such as ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, CIS, OWASP, SOC 2, and CSA
    • Support internal and external security audits by providing required documentation/evidence
  • Automation and continuous improvement
    • Build security improvements and automation to measurably strengthen the security posture

Requirements

  • 5+ years in Information Security, Security Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD workflows and IaC (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Experience securing cloud environments: AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, and incident response tools
  • Strong understanding of network and application security, IAM, and encryption
  • Working knowledge of data/tooling concepts (e.g., SQL, Python)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Security or equivalent experience
  • US citizenship required (role supports the US government); no visa sponsorship

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated proficiency using AI tools (e.g., Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, Copilot) to streamline work or drive measurable outcomes
  • Analytical, curious, and proactive communication with both technical and non-technical audiences

Success milestones

  • First month: Understand Collibra’s infrastructure, security architecture, and monitoring environment
  • Third month: Contribute to threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management workflows
  • Sixth month: Design/implement security automation or architectural improvements that measurably strengthen the security posture
