About the role

Role Overview

Engineer, Data II (Data Engineer II)

  • Leads design and implementation of high-quality data solutions across new and legacy systems.
  • Works independently on smaller projects and supports senior engineers on complex work.
  • Focus includes both relational and NoSQL data repositories (with emphasis on MongoDB).

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data models and schemas for relational and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Implement data transformation and processing pipelines.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure data solutions meet application requirements.
  • Conduct data analysis and perform performance tuning for database optimization.
  • Assist with mentoring junior engineers and help establish best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (required).
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles (required).
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Experience with at least one programming language: Python, Java, or C#.
  • Transportation/logistics and/or tech industry experience (a plus).

Skills / Nice to Have

  • Strong SQL proficiency.
  • NoSQL experience, specifically MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of indexing, partitioning, and data sharding.
  • Understanding of data security and compliance best practices.
  • Familiarity with Kafka or RabbitMQ (plus).
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as Amazon RDS (plus).
  • Experience with data processing frameworks.
  • Experience with MongoDB and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) beneficial.
  • Ability to manage change and communicate effectively.

Compensation & Benefits (highlights)

  • Compensation range: $82,700–$103,400
