About the role

Role Overview

Employee Relations Manager (remote) reporting to a Regional ER Director. You will support Greystar leaders and team members by executing the company’s Employee Relations strategy for an assigned portfolio, resolving day-to-day people issues using established policies and applicable employment law.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary Employee Relations (ER) point of contact for an assigned portfolio/business units.
  • Advise on ER matters including performance management, conduct, attendance, and workplace conflict.
  • Conduct thorough, objective, and timely workplace investigations; document findings and recommend resolutions aligned with policy and law.
  • Interpret and apply the Team Member Handbook, HR policies, and employment law; escalate novel or high-risk cases.
  • Coach frontline and mid-level leaders on performance management, corrective action, and documentation best practices.
  • Review and coach leaders on ER-related communications (e.g., disciplinary notices, performance improvement plans).
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local employment law across assigned multi-state geographies.
  • Support EEOC-related responses, including preparation of EEOC position statements and related documentation (with the Regional ER Director and, when needed, legal counsel).
  • Monitor and triage the ER intake queue; route items outside your scope to the right ER/People & Culture team member.
  • Partner with ER colleagues, HRBPs, Legal, and subject matter experts to deliver integrated people solutions and share best practices.
  • Identify recurring ER themes and surface recommendations to inform training, process improvements, or policy updates.
  • Complete ER reports/analyses and maintain accurate, confidential personnel and legal records.

Requirements

  • Strong ability to apply employment law and company HR/ER policies to practical day-to-day people issues.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and making legally sound recommendations.
  • Ability to coach leaders on performance management and corrective action documentation.
  • Knowledge of employment law developments across multi-state geographies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting EEOC matters and drafting/assembling position statement documentation.
  • Experience triaging ER intake and coordinating across ER/People & Culture/Legal stakeholders.
