Email Developer - Maropost / ESP Migration

Role overview

Hands-on Email Developer to migrate an ecommerce client’s email program from Mandrill to Maropost as part of a Shopify replatform. You’ll convert designer work into production-ready, logic-driven Maropost templates and own the build-out of ~100 transactional and lifecycle emails under a tight timeline.

What you’ll do

• Build and deploy ~100 transactional and lifecycle emails in Maropost (e.g., order confirmations, shipping/refunds/cancellations, account updates, abandoned cart, welcome/onboarding, reorder flows, product review requests, and promotional campaigns).
• Create a reusable modular component library plus a global header/footer aligned to the new design system.
• Implement Liquid-based dynamic templates with conditional logic for complex segments (customer type, autoship vs. non-autoship, affiliate flows, subscription lifecycle events, lead routing).
• Configure multi-country / multi-language localization.
• Audit existing Mandrill inventory and migrate flows to Maropost (or support a hybrid approach if required).
• Wire Shopify triggers to Maropost flows and validate end-to-end functionality alongside the broader migration.
• Coordinate subscription-related email events with Seal Subscriptions.
• Support a dedicated QA phase for business logic variability, localization, deliverability, and rendering across major clients/devices.
• Document templates/components/conditional logic for post-launch maintainability.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on email development with production builds inside an ESP.
• Direct Maropost experience strongly preferred (or rapid ramp from Klaviyo, Iterable, Braze, Customer.io, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar).
• Experience executing an ESP migration, ideally Mandrill → another platform.
• Strong command of Liquid templating (or comparable ESP templating languages).
• Expert HTML/CSS for email: tables, inline styles, MSO conditional comments, dark mode handling, and responsive email techniques that work in Outlook.
• Experience integrating an ESP with Shopify (or similar ecommerce platforms), including event-triggered transactional flows.
• Ability to translate Figma designs into pixel-faithful templates.
• High attention to conditional logic edge cases and localization variants.
• Familiarity with email QA tooling (e.g., Litmus, Email on Acid).

Bonus points

• Maropost certifications or a shippable Maropost portfolio.
• Subscription/autoship email flow experience (e.g., Seal Subscriptions, ReCharge, Skio).
• Multi-language/multi-country email programs at scale.
• Deliverability fundamentals: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, sender reputation, suppression management.

Engagement details

• Type: Contract (potential extension into post-launch optimization and remaining marketing campaigns)
• Duration: ~2 months active build; target completion before late-August UAT for a September launch
• Commitment: Full-time preferred; 30+ hours/week minimum
