Electrical Design Engineer - Renewable Energy Systems (Fully remote, hybrid or office-based)

Role: Electrical Design Engineer — Renewable Energy Systems

You’ll join SUNOTEC’s engineering team to turn project concepts into electrical designs and optimized solutions ready for implementation, directly supporting efficiency, reliability, and successful delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical design and optimization of photovoltaic (PV) power plants and battery storage installations (BESS)
• Design electrical systems for large-scale PV plants, ensuring technical reliability and compliance with project requirements
• Analyze solar potential using satellite data, meteorological analysis, and on-site measurements
• Prepare technical simulations and engineering analyses to support optimal system configuration choices
• Use specialized tools to design PV plants and battery storage facilities
• Coordinate electrical solutions with other disciplines (e.g., civil/geotechnical/structural and HSE teams)
• Support project teams in resolving technical challenges throughout project development and execution

Work Model / Collaboration

• Flexible location in Bulgaria: fully remote, hybrid, or office-based (Sofia)
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams across Europe and international stakeholders

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical field
• Experience in electrical design and knowledge of photovoltaic systems
• Practical experience with AutoCAD and willingness to work with specialized engineering software (PVcase, PVsyst)
• Strong English
• Ability to analyze technical information and make sound engineering decisions
• Strong communication skills and international team collaboration experience
