EIT - Civil - Anchorage, AK

Role Overview

The Engineer in Training (EIT) assists with Civil and/or Structural Engineering projects focused on transportation and civil site design across rural and urban Alaska. Work is performed under the direction of a professional engineer, including design support and field assistance for civil infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a variety of civil and structural engineering projects based on experience and project needs.
• Apply standard engineering techniques, standards, and criteria; use judgment to make minor adaptations.
• Under direct supervision, help perform studies, calculations, designs, and prepare reports, plans, and specifications.
• Perform construction inspection and documentation duties for roadway and civil site construction.
• Develop drawings and models under direction of a professional engineer using tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, RISA (and other platforms).
• Support additional department/unit tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and EIT (FE) certification desired.
• Experience using AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and/or RISA to prepare engineering plans.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Technical writing and strong communication skills (oral and written).
• Willingness to travel (often short-term) and assist with oversight of ongoing construction.
• Preferred: experience designing in northern climates.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for the last 3 years (required for company vehicle eligibility).

Working Conditions

• Primarily office environment (indoors, environmentally controlled).
• Noise level typically similar to a standard office.
• May require occasional lifting/moving up to 25 lbs.
• Travel may include remote areas and alternative transportation modes such as snow machines, boats, small airplanes, and ATVs.

Travel/Location

• Anchorage, AK (travel to remote project locations as needed).
