About the role

Role overview

Distributed Systems (Cloud Platform) Engineer for a managed cloud database platform. You’ll join a small, high-calibre engineering team building the cloud control plane that provisions, operates, and scales customer database clusters in production.

What you’ll work on

Design and build a cloud-native control plane for a managed database platform
Develop Kubernetes Operators and Controllers to provision, upgrade, scale, and maintain customer clusters
Build automation for backups, replication, failover, monitoring, and cluster lifecycle management
Design APIs and orchestration systems for managing stateful infrastructure
Improve deployment, testing, monitoring, and operational tooling
Collaborate with customers to solve complex infrastructure challenges
Work closely with Postgres ecosystem and cloud-native database technologies

Requirements

Experience building distributed systems or cloud infrastructure platforms
Hands-on Kubernetes experience: Operators, Controllers, CRDs, or Kubernetes-native software
Production development experience in Go or Rust
Track record operating reliable production workloads on Kubernetes
Infrastructure tooling experience such as Terraform, Helm, Bash, or Python
Experience designing APIs/control planes/orchestration and infrastructure automation

Nice to have

Experience with database operators or Database-as-a-Service
Cloud-native Postgres technologies and/or search/analytical/high-performance data systems
Open-source contributions
Startup experience (early-stage/high-growth)

Location / work model

Remote (US & Canada) with optional office access in San Francisco
