About the role

Role: Director/VP of Software

Location: US Remote (SF office if preferred) Reports to: CTO

You’ll join a Series A DevTool/AI startup as a mix of leadership and hands-on engineering work: ~60% leadership / ~40% hands-on.

Responsibilities

Own the product development roadmap in partnership with the CTO
Make architectural decisions across the stack
Lead, mentor, and scale a team of engineers; define team goals and create growth paths
Work cross-functionally to deliver product outcomes
Jump in hands-on to debug, prototype, and solve complex problems as needed
Oversee full-stack product development
- Backend: Golang and Rust
- Frontend: Vue.js and TypeScript

Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineering teams
Ability to translate business and customer needs into engineering roadmaps
Experience in a growth-stage startup (ideally Series A–B)
Strong modern web-stack experience (e.g., Go, Rust, TypeScript)
Comfortable being hands-on when required
