About the role
Role Overview
Director of Software Engineering for a partner company within a global engineering organization building and scaling mission-critical mobility and payments platforms. You will lead the technical vision, architecture, and execution of core services for fleet management and payments across North America.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the long-term technical vision and architectural roadmap for mobility and payments services.
- Lead, grow, and mentor distributed engineering teams across multiple geographies; build a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Oversee microservices-based architecture design and delivery for secure, scalable, high-performance systems.
- Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to convert customer needs into engineering priorities and execution plans.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices (development standards, CI/CD, and metrics-driven productivity tracking).
- Drive operational excellence via structured delivery, roadmap planning, and continuous performance monitoring.
- Present technical strategy, risks, and progress updates to senior leadership and global stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership roles managing both individual contributors and managers.
- Strong expertise in cloud architectures, microservices, REST APIs, and modern software engineering practices.
- Hands-on cloud experience with AWS or Azure, including deployment, scalability, and security best practices.
- Proven ability to lead distributed, cross-functional teams across multiple geographies.
- Deep system design and architecture governance; strong understanding of software development lifecycle management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and executive-level stakeholder management.
- Ability to drive clarity and execution in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience with payments systems, fleet platforms, or ISO8583-based card processing environments.
Location & Work Model
- Remote-friendly work model with location flexibility within approved U.S. hubs.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary: $199,300–$246,900 USD (based on experience/qualifications)
