Director of Product Security & Privacy

Role overview

Lead Product Security and Privacy across the entire product line (hardware to software). Own the long-term strategy for Product Security, AppSec, and Privacy Engineering, and drive security reviews, standards, and incident/vulnerability management processes.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a comprehensive long-term vision and strategy for Product Security, AppSec, and Privacy Engineering across all product lines.
• Lead the Product Security Review process, including:
  • Threat modeling
  • Security architecture reviews
  • Penetration testing oversight for new and existing features
• Define, enforce, and operationalize Security and Privacy standards/policies within the SDLC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive incident response and vulnerability management processes.
• Mentor and develop a team of high-performing security and privacy engineers.
• Foster a culture of Security-by-Design and Privacy-by-Design as enablers of innovation and competitive advantage.

Requirements

• Leadership experience leading teams (security/privacy engineering) (5+ years).
• Strong ability to influence product strategy and investment decisions without direct authority; excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management (Product, Legal, Engineering).
• Experience hiring, mentoring, and retaining specialized engineers (e.g., AppSec, Privacy Engineering, Cryptography).
• Product- and customer-centric mindset balancing business goals with high security and privacy.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple complex security initiatives.
• Cross-functional influence to align stakeholders on security priorities and trade-offs.
• Development experience with embedded systems/firmware across product lifecycle stages (prototyping, validation, release, scaling).
• Ability to communicate complex security/privacy risks to executive leadership and legal/engineering teams.
• Engineering experience with one or more of: TypeScript, Rust, Go, Python, Kotlin, C, Bash, Swift.
