Director of Product Management

Role Overview

Join LawnStarter as the first Director of Product Management. You’ll lead a team of three PMs and establish the product team’s operating model while driving growth, retention, and profitability. You’ll also prioritize across multiple goals, expand into new verticals (including launching a second vertical), and own the integration of AI and agents into the product.

Key Missions / Responsibilities

• Lead & mentor PMs: Coach and develop the product managers; ensure high-quality product delivery.
• Define the product operating model: Create best practices, standards, and processes for the product team.
• Own product strategy & roadmap: Prioritize initiatives aligned with company goals and delivering value to customers and Pros.
• AI & agents integration: Own how AI-native features and agent-driven capabilities are incorporated into the product.
• Measure success: Improve growth, retention, profitability, and successfully launch a second vertical.

Requirements / Profile

• Brutal prioritization: Sequence work ruthlessly, kill “good-but-not-now,” and protect team focus; comfortable with hard prioritization conversations.
• Systems thinking: Understand inputs, rules, feedback loops, and second-order effects; treat customer and Pro needs as one connected system.
• AI-native mindset: Use AI daily, push the team to do the same, and think beyond AI as a simple productivity hack.
• Player-coach leadership: Multiply strong talent through coaching, unblocking, and raising the bar—while still doing hands-on work when it matters.
• Strong scoping & UX obsession: Cut to essentials and ensure the product genuinely feels good to use.
• Cross-functional partnership: Earn trust across Design, Engineering, Data, Finance, and Ops; communicate in their language and make decisions they respect.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience launching or entering new verticals.
• Demonstrated ability to lead AI/agent integration as a product platform shift (not just feature-level adoption).
